Aging Chrome
These classic cars were once at a dealership just like any other car today. Now they participate in classic car shows. The difference between classic cars before the 1990s and newer cars now is the large amounts of chrome. “Past Present” speaks to the future as it does to the past. As time passes there will always be a “new line” of classic cars as long as new cars are manufactured. It’s only a matter of time before the cars we drive today survive long enough to make the same impact that classic cars have today.
My second series “Present Future” captures the constant awareness of that interchangeable space of time between classic and modern day cars. The juxtaposition in these two models of cars follows my previous series. The clinical approach to “Past Present” concluded with a final observation. The time between the two models is the factor that separates and ties them together. The framing of my photographs focuses on each classic car while the modern cars linger around waiting for their time. The new cars of today will eventually, as time passes, become the “new line” of classic cars in the future. Until then, there will be no telling what tells them apart in the future.
